Read: Genesis 15: 2 – 6
Sometimes God gives us a word to move forward in a thing; however, there are many times when we have the promise and the word, but we are not sure when or how it will come to pass. Sometimes there are many unknowns, and it is up to us to wait and trust the move of God in his perfect timing. Sometimes the Lord has to do a work in us and others in order to bring our promise to fruition. It is our duty to have faith and obedience in the word of God while we wait on the many blessings he has in store for us.
It can be very tempting to move ahead of God’s timing by manipulating situations or rushing into a thing. God warns us to be anxious for nothing but in prayer and supplication make our petitions known to him (Philippians 4:6). In this very chapter of Genesis, Abram and his wife Sarai became anxious for the child they were promised, so Sarai suggested Abram go into her midwife, Hagar and conceive a child. Lack of faith coupled with disobedience wreaked havoc on Abrams family and changed the course of biblical history, not only affecting Abram’s family but also generations and nations to follow (Genesis 16-18).
Let’s Pray: Father, I know you have many blessings in store for myself and my family. Sometimes it seems as if nothing is going according to plan and your promises will never come to pass. Lord, today I ask that you forgive me for my impatience, unfaithfulness, and disobedience in your word, for I know, that your timing, is perfect timing. I pray that only your prompting will guide me toward all that you have in store for me.
