“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
When we think of the upcoming New Year, we often focus on what we want to leave behind. That’s all well and good, but too much thought on the past will keep us attached to the very things we wish to remove from our lives. Today, and for the rest of my life, I want to focus on what I want to GAIN. Now, I’m not talking about material things, but the things that really matter. I’m not even talking about eternal life – we’ll get there at some point.
I want to focus on the now and I believe everything else will fall into place. God has entrusted me with three precious lives that I must love and guard with all that is within me. For 2014, and the rest of my life, I want to give my children more than I have given them in the past. I want to give them more of what I have found to be lacking in my life. I want to give them more love, attention and time. I want to protect them from hate, discouragement and lies. I want to break the generational curses that have managed to plague my life, so that they will walk a smoother path.
This is possible. All things are possible. You may be asking, how? Because through Christ old things are passed away, behold, all things are new. I’ve heard this and I read this scripture before, but now I must embrace it. Today, I want you to follow me by forgetting about the past and focusing on the new you! We will no longer self-deceive ourselves into thinking that if we receive more love we will be able to give more love. Let’s stop kidding ourselves and be the change we want to see in our lives. We can do it through Christ – so let’s get moving…
Let’s Pray: Father today I reenter into your loving arms. I will no longer wait on others to fulfill my inner needs and desires in order to be the man or woman that you called me to be. 2013 is forever gone, and today I ask that you help me, and show me how to truly embrace your Word, and believe that old things have passed away, and that I am a new creation in you. I can be all that you called me to be!
