“But why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock” (Luke 6:46-48).
In this scripture God assures believers that if they go deeper into His word, obey His word, and surround themselves with a foundation of truth, they will have the strength to endure any storm. Not only will they outlast those who do not believe or honor the Word of God, but they will be left standing for everyone to witness the Greatness of God and how He honors those who honor Him.
Maybe, you recently fell off from reading your bible or communing with other believers, but in this act you are weakening your defenses to endure in the face of trials and temptation. God promises that those who hear his word and ignores its sayings will only see destruction (Luke 6:49). On what side of the storm would you rather be today – on the side of grace, mercy, and victory, or perhaps on the side of death and destruction?
Let’s Pray – Lord thank you for the Word of God that reproves, instructs, builds-up, and corrects for the purpose of righteousness. Thank you for honoring your faithful followers and giving Jesus as the rock on which we build the foundation of our lives.
