“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor.”
We often hear the saying, “knowledge is power.” Well, where do you think this saying came from? It is based on biblical truth that will set you free. Wisdom is the application of knowledge and understanding.
I am a witness to how wisdom and understanding produces momentum for change – change that produces a peaceful state of being. For instance, this week I gained some knowledge on the executive functions of the brain; basically to keep it simple, I was debriefed on how the functions of the brain control human behavior. This knowledge gave me insight into one of my children, and allowed me to understand why he behaves the way he does. Now that I have this knowledge and understanding I can apply what I know to produce the results that I am seeking in his behavior. Not only that, I am not as stressed, angry or on edge like I usually am because I now know that I am in control. The ball is in my court.
Can this principle be applied to any aspect of our lives? Absolutely. It is imperative that we seek knowledge and understanding and apply this wisdom to produce the results we are seeking. Results that will bring health to our flesh and bones, and give us a peace that surpasses all understanding.
