“There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel – that will stand” (Proverbs 19:21).
Many times we make plans based on our emotions and what we feel is the best plan of action to propel us in the direction we would like to head in. And often during these same moments we feel our gut telling us to tread a different path or take another course of action – maybe one that is along the unbeaten path or that will take additional time to accomplish. And at other times we hear our gut say, “wait,” but instead we tread forward according to our own plans.
That gut feeling that we are experiencing is the Holy Spirit prompting us to heed to his warnings for our own benefit. Often when we ignore these inner promptings, we experience detrimental results that end in delayed experiences and accomplishments. The Lord’s counsel is the best advice we could ever receive. We can stray from the path He designed for our lives, but He will kindly bring us back to the starting line to finish the race according to his plans. God tells us in (Jeremiah 29:11), for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future.
If you have failed to take heed to those inner promptings, reevaluate your current and former choices and seek God, so that you can quickly realign your plans according to His will for your life. After all “daddy knows best.”
